Welcome

The 8th Iberian Meeting on Colloids and Interfaces (RICI8) will be held from 17th-19th July 2019, at the University of Aveiro (Portugal). RICI (Reunión Ibérica de Coloides e Interfases/Reunião Ibérica de Colóides e Interfaces) is a joint meeting promoted by the Grupo Especializado de Coloides e Interfases (GECI) of the Real Sociedad Española de Química (RSEQ) and the Real Sociedad Española de Física (RSEF), and the Grupo de Colóides, Polímeros e Interfaces of the Sociedade Portuguesa de Química (SPQ). This meeting aims at gathering the Spanish and Portuguese communities sharing interests in topics related to the science of colloids and interfaces, by promoting scientific discussion and fostering cooperation at an international level; thus, researchers from all parts of the world are welcome.

RICI8 offers a program that covers conventional aspects and emergent topics in this multidisciplinary scientific field, in the form of plenary and invited lectures, together with scientific communications (talks and posters). The broad topics covered in RICI8 include concepts and applications associated to colloids and surfaces as exemplified below:

  • Colloids, Biocolloids, Nanoparticles and Colloidal Nanoscience
  • Surfaces, Interfaces and Films
  • Polymers, Foams, Emulsions, Liquid Crystals and Gels
  • Surfactant Science and Technology
  • Advanced Materials and their Characterization
  • Theory and Modeling Applied to Soft Matter
  • Colloidal Biotechnology, Medical, Pharmaceutical and Food Applications
  • Experimental Methods in Colloidal and Interface Science
  • Colloids and Surfaces in Energy and Environmental Technologies
On behalf of the promoters of RICI8, I would like to cordially invite you to participate in this meeting.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Aveiro!

BY PLANE and/or TRAIN

Closest airport is in Porto, Airport Francisco Sá Carneiro, located 70 km to the north of Aveiro. From the Oporto airport, take the metro to Campanhã railway station and then by train it will be easy to reach Aveiro station. The journey between the airport and Campanhã station takes about 30 minutes using a Z4 Andante ticket. Depending on the type of train, the journey to Aveiro takes between 40 and 75 min.

The Airport Humberto Delgado in Lisbon is located 250 km south from Aveiro. From Lisboa airport take the metro (red line) to Oriente railway station and then by train it will be easy the to reach Aveiro station. The journey from Lisbon to Aveiro railway station takes about 2h (Alfa service)- 2h30m (IC service).
Taxis are available for all the above connections but usually this is a more expensive option.

Aveiro railway station is at walking distance (10-15 minutes) from Aveiro center and from a number of Hotels. However you might want to consider more convenient alternatives: TAXI | BUS
